Enterprise Customer Portal Release v1.6.11

Enterprise Customer Portal

With the release of v11 Axosoft has quietly changed its Authentication method for the OnTime users to OpenAuth. This will affect ANY third party and custom developed software that makes use of the OnTime SDK UserService Web Service HashPassword() method

Axosoft confirmed in a Support inquiry that it will no longer support User Password Authentication with this Method and suggests to drop any validation in custom applications.

This release is an intermediate maintenance release to adapt the portal to the new requirements. With release 1.6.11 we have added support for different Authentication Mechanisms as outlined in the release notes - providing a viable continuity for all our customers.

Release Notes: v1.6.11

Customer Portal Back-Office

==========================================================================
v1.6.11 [09 Sept 2011]
==========================================================================
+ Added a new appSettings key "AuthType" to the web.config that will
  recognize the following case insensitive values:

    - None
    - Internal

  Default Mode: Any other value - other than "none" and "internal" will
  trigger the native mode which is OnTime Authentication. This method will
  currently only work for OnTime versions prior to version 11.

  None
  ----
  This will trigger the BackOffice not to perform any login authentication.
  To be explicit the password field is switched off. Anybody with the
  correct Username can now log into the Portal BackOffice.

  You should use this mode when you lose the admin password or require
  immediate access.

  Internal
  --------
  This mode will validate users against the internal User Authentication
  Data. This is not the same as OnTime which means that any Authentication
  change from within OnTime does *NOT* affect the Portal.

+ Bugfix: Previously the "Enabled" check in the User edit mode was not
  initialized/maintained properly indicating a possible wrong status

+ Style/Layout: As the logo has changed in the back-office the term
  "back office" is now part of the logo so the text subtitle has been
  removed

When I then question these business owners to get a better understanding it becomes quickly clear that many don't have the same understanding and perception of the Internet and therefore can't find any direct or measurable benefits in investing any money in it.
